Josh.ai System Designer — by Shield Low Voltage

Design Your Josh.ai Home
In Two Minutes.

Tell us about the house and how you want to talk to it. This drafts the Josh.ai system we would propose — processor, microphones, remotes and touchscreens — shows what Josh will control, what the network needs, and an installed range. No email required to see it.

Josh.ai is the voice and AI layer. It works on its own with Lutron, Sonos and supported devices, or on top of Control4 and Crestron to give everything those systems run a voice.

        The pieces

        Three Decisions
        Make a Josh.ai Home.

Every Josh.ai system is a processor, a way to talk to it, and the systems it is allowed to touch. The designer above sizes each one from your answers; the walkthrough confirms them room by room.

        The processor

Josh One runs up to about a hundred controlled devices with Micro microphones. Josh Core runs up to five hundred, is required for Nano microphones, and rack-mounts with the rest of the AV gear. Both process voice locally, which is why Josh is the assistant we trust with locks and cameras.

        Microphones

Nano is the in-wall microphone: one Cat6, a clean trim, and no speaker of its own, so Josh answers through the room’s audio. It requires Josh Core and is our pick whenever we can pre-wire. Micro is the tabletop version with a built-in speaker, ideal for existing homes and for rooms without speakers. Nothing listens until it hears its name, and every room can be muted at the device.

        Remotes and touchscreens

Edge lives by the bed and in the great room. Cinema Remote runs the theater. In-wall touchscreens cover entries and the primary suite. Each has a tap-to-talk button, so voice is always one press away.

A first draft is where the conversation starts. On the walkthrough we mark microphone locations on the plan, confirm what your lighting, shades and audio can hand to Josh, and write the proposal. Read what Josh.ai does, see the Josh Edge remote in motion, or price the rest of the house with the budget calculator.
