Partner With Shield — Builders, Architects & Designers

One Partner for Everything
Behind the Drywall.

One low voltage partner for the whole house — network, lighting control, shades, audio, video, cameras, access and alarm — specified from your plans, roughed in on your schedule, and handed to your client documented. Licensed Utah contractor, based in Lehi, working from Salt Lake to Park City.

Who this is for

Three Kinds of Partners.
One Kind of Job.

Custom home builders

You need a sub who shows up at rough-in when the framers leave, doesn’t hold up drywall, and doesn’t make you explain the technology to the buyer at closing. We do all three, and we carry our own COI and W-9 so your paperwork is a forward, not a chase.

Architects & interior designers

You need clean lighting and shade specifications that respect the drawings: keypads where they belong, no wall acne, shade pockets that were planned, speakers that disappear. We work in your finish schedule, not against it, and we sit in on the client meetings you want us in.

Realtors & property managers

You need someone to make an existing system work for a new owner, take over an orphaned installation, or get a second home monitored before the season. Same-week service, documentation for the file, and a technician who answers.

What you get

Everything Your Client Sees,
and Everything They Don’t.

A partner relationship with Shield is one contact, one schedule and one set of documents for every low voltage system in the house.

  • A written specification from your plans — device schedule, keypad and shade locations, rack location, and a budget range before you commit
  • Pre-wire drawings your framer and electrician can read — and a rough-in crew that coordinates with both
  • One point of contact — a named project lead from spec through commissioning, reachable by phone
  • Lighting control that respects the design — Lutron RadioRA 3 or HomeWorks, engraved keypads, matched finishes, no gang-of-six switch walls
  • Client handover done for you — a walkthrough, the app set up on their phones, and a documentation binder with logins, device list and network map
  • Someone to call after closing — the buyer’s first service call comes to us, not to you

How we work

Six Touchpoints.
No Surprises Between Them.

  1. Plan review. Send the set. Within a week you get a device schedule, a spec and a budget range, free, whether or not we get the job.
  2. Design meeting. With you, and with the client if you want, we settle the platform, the lighting and shade scope, and the finishes. The spec becomes a proposal.
  3. Pre-wire. Booked to your framing date. Every cable labeled at both ends, photographed before drywall, and a drawing left in the panel.
  4. Trim-out. Keypads, speakers, cameras, shades and panels installed to the finish schedule, on the finish schedule.
  5. Commissioning. Programming, scenes, network, testing. We are done when the house does what the client was promised, not when the gear is mounted.
  6. Handover and service. Walkthrough with the client, apps on their phones, the documentation binder, and our number on the rack. Service calls come to us.

What We Specify

We build on foundations that stand on their own — Lutron, Sonos, UniFi and Alarm.com — with Josh.ai as the control layer on top. Control4, Crestron and Savant when a project or a client calls for them. Documented, and serviceable by more than one company.

Kohlten was fantastic and got everything hooked up exactly as we were hoping. There were some challenges with the path for the wiring but he figured it out and everything turned out great!

We inherited a system that was already in place and everyone has been extremely helpful and accommodating. The service has been great and they are very quick to solve issues that arise. Would recommend anyone to use Shield!

Before you send the plans

What partners ask first.

How early should you be involved?

Before framing, ideally at the design development set. Shade pockets, keypad locations, speaker placement, the rack closet and the conduit paths are cheap decisions on paper and expensive ones after drywall. If the set is already out to bid, send it anyway; we can still pre-wire correctly if we are on site before insulation.

Do you work as a subcontractor or directly with the homeowner?

Either, and we will follow your preference. Many builders carry the pre-wire and network in their contract and have us contract the automation, audio and shades directly with the buyer. We keep both sides documented so nobody is surprised at closing.

Will you sit in client meetings?

Yes. Design meetings, selections, and the handover walkthrough. We explain the technology in the client’s terms and we do not sell in your meeting; scope changes go through you.

What documentation do you provide?

A device schedule and spec at the start; labeled, photographed pre-wire with a drawing in the panel; and at handover a binder and PDF with the device list, network map, logins and programming files. The client owns all of it. If we are ever not the right fit, another integrator can pick it up.

Which platforms, and why not just one?

Lutron for lighting and shades in nearly every project, Sonos for whole-home audio, UniFi for the network and cameras, Alarm.com for security and life safety, and Josh.ai as the voice and touch layer that ties them together. Each of those runs beautifully on its own, so the client is never locked into one vendor or one dealer. Control4, Crestron Home or Savant when a project or a client specifically calls for them. We choose per house because the right answer for a 3,500 square foot home in Alpine is not the right answer for a 12,000 square foot estate in Promontory.

Where do you work?

Headquartered in Lehi. Daily across Utah County, Salt Lake County, Park City and the Snyderville Basin, Heber and Midway, Morgan County, and Davis County. Commercial and multifamily anywhere in Utah.
