Half the businesses we walk have a 2010-era analog system and a building full of coax. DW’s HD-over-coax line means we can usually give you sharp HD on the wiring you already own:
- Cameras swap, cable stays — Star-Light HD-over-coax heads replace the fuzzy originals, no repull, no drywall
- Recorder upgrade — a VMAX DVR that speaks both old and new, so the system upgrades in phases, not all at once
- Hybrid paths — IP where it’s easy, coax where it’s not; one interface either way
- Orphaned DW systems adopted — installer gone? We audit, recover and take over what’s already on the wall

Can we really get HD on our old analog cable?
Usually, yes. If the building has serviceable coax, Star-Light HD-over-coax cameras and a VMAX hybrid recorder deliver sharp HD on the wiring you already own — we test the runs first, and the swap typically happens in a day per building.
Is there a monthly fee?
Not for the core system. Recording is local and DW Spectrum licenses are perpetual — bought once. Optional cloud viewing and our monitoring services are the only recurring pieces, and both are exactly that: optional.
How does DW compare to Verkada or UniFi?
Verkada is cloud-first with per-camera subscriptions; UniFi is superb when the building is already a UniFi network. DW wins on coax buildings, tight budgets that still want quality glass, and owners who want zero dependence on anyone’s cloud. We install all three — the building picks.
Our DW system came with the building and nobody has the passwords.
Common inheritance, straightforward fix. We factory-recover or rebuild access on the recorder, verify each camera, document credentials properly this time, and take over service so it has a local number attached to it again.
